History
The 'Mesón de Deus' has a special place in Galican and Spanish history. It was the first ever restaurant in Ordes (known as Ordenes back then) and was the stage for General Juan Díaz Porlier´s arrest in 1815.
Juan Díaz Porlier "O Marquesiño" was a Captain in the Spanish Military in the 19th century, but on August 19th 1815, pronounced against Fernando VII in defence of the Spanish Constitution of 1812.
He was on his way to Compostela in search of support against the absolutist regime when he decided to spend the night in Ordenes (Ordes) on the 22nd of September 1815. It was here, whilst having dinner in the 'Meson de Deus' that he was arrested by generals sent by Felipe Saint-March.
He was taken to La Coruña where he spent seven days in a dungeon before being sentenced to the gallows and later executed on the 3rd of October 1815.
